My name is Ptolemy Pruden, I’m a defense strategist, author of China Rising: The Case for Containment, and producer of the new documentary Indo-Pacific: Building Our Navy and the Joint Force. My recent work includes advising on the SHIPS Act and being a speaker at a U.S. NAVSEA Conference in San Diego for the International Fleet Working Group as well as being a defense industry speaker for the National Defense Industry Association conference.
My work, in defense advocacy over the past seven years has been driven by a singular focus: reinforcing our national defense through a stronger, more lethal Navy. I have engaged extensively with staff from the Senate and House Armed Services Committees, emphasizing the critical need for an increased budget to sustain our Battle Force. My efforts also include advocating for a freeze on ship decommissioning and proposing the arming of auxiliary and amphibious platforms with containerized missiles to enhance lethality.
By taking action now, we can significantly reduce the potential for conflict with China. This is the purpose behind my Substack and every project I pursue: to help secure a future where our children can live in peace—one where they can grow up, graduate, have a profession, marry, and raise their own families. I realize this is a utopian view in our current world, but the alternative is far worse. I genuinely believe that we all have a special role to play in protecting our children’s future.
